Mobilizations and Protests Planned in Mexico City

This Monday, October 21, various mobilizations and demonstrations are expected in Mexico City, according to the Command, Control, Computing, Communications, and Citizen Contact Center of Mexico City (C5), calling on residents of the capital to take precautions.

On this day, the Central Workers and Workers’ Union of the City and the Field will present a petition of demands that calls for union recognition, respect for the freedom of organization, and other labor rights. The march will start at 5:00 PM from the Ministry of the Interior (SEGOB) towards the Government Building of Mexico City.

At another point in the city, the Front of Resistances Against Repression and Police Brutality will carry out a ride under the title "Over 500 Years in Resistance," as part of the "Day of Struggle Against the War on Zapatista Peoples." This demonstration will begin at 10:00 AM from the House of Indigenous Peoples and Communities "Samir Flores Soberanes" to the Zócalo.

On the other hand, the Venezuelan Community Based in Mexico will meet at 11:30 AM at the UNICEF headquarters to demand justice and protection for minors detained in Venezuela for participating in protests. Neighbors from the Granjas México neighborhood will protest demanding the halt of the construction of a set of apartments that has caused problems with water supply and basic services in the area, as well as traffic congestion.

These are just a few examples of the planned mobilizations for that day in different parts of Mexico City, so it is advisable to stay alert for possible impacts on mobility and safety.
